Designing our own flavours of gelato in Y326-03-2021 | 15:54:19 | Comments Off on Designing our own flavours of gelato in Y3

After our taste testing session last week, we decided this week to design our own flavour of gelato. We first started with some market research to find out the most popular flavours of ice cream and gelato in Year 3.

We had a great afternoon designing our own flavours and thinking about suitable toppings too. Our teachers think that they all sound delicious! Here’s a few examples:

We’re hoping that the most popular choices can be made into a gelato. These will be sold at Gelato & Cakes in Cheadle later in the year, so watch this space!

We’ve had another excitement-filled afternoon today in Year 3. We have been learning about volcanoes so we decided to have a go at creating our own.

Gelato & Ice-cream tasting in Year 319-03-2021 | 15:50:08 | Comments Off on Gelato & Ice-cream tasting in Year 3

We had a very exciting afternoon yesterday! We are currently studying Italy so we have started to research gelato. Gelato is an Italian style of ice-cream.

Gelato & Cakes in Cheadle very kindly donated us some samples of gelato to try. We tasted vanilla, strawberry, lemon and Creme Egg! Olivia’s dad also kindly provided us with some samples of chocolate and salted caramel ice-cream to compare to gelato. All were delicious and went down a treat! Before enjoying them, we made notes about the appearance, smell and then finally the taste of all of the samples.

We can’t wait until next week when we are going to design our own flavours of gelato. Keep your eyes peeled for an exciting announcement!

Over the last few weeks, we have been learning about rocks and soils in Science. To consolidate our learning about the layers of soil on Earth, we decided to make our own edible earth.

We used biscuits, chocolate chips, chocolate mousse, gummy worms and green coconut to represent the different layers. Our favourite part was definitely eating it at the end!

We had a great day yesterday celebrating World Book Day. In Year 3, we ran a competition to decorate a potato as a famous character from a book. The entries have all been super! We’ve never seen better dressed potatoes! Amazing work Year 3!
