This week in Year 3, we have had a go at drawing ammonites. Mr Johnson modelled how to use pencil to shade and add tone to our ammonite sketches.

Next week, we are going to use a range of media to represent them in a different way.

This week in English we have been looking at different types of poetry. We discovered at the start of the week that the famous tongue-twister below was inspired by Mary Anning. We put our skills to the test and had a go at creating our own.

Then we had fun creating our own kenning poems based on Mary Anning. We used phrases such as ‘fossil-finder’ and ‘lightning-survivor’ to describe her. We presented our work on an ammonite fossil template and we think that the results are great.

Finally, we finished the week by creating acrostic poems about a volcano.

Both the children in school and at home have produced some super work this week!

Explosive art in Year 3!01-02-2021 | 10:25:56 | Comments Off on Explosive art in Year 3!

We got very messy in Year 3 last week replicating the work of Nick Rowland.

Using his work as inspiration, we experimented with pastels and paint to create a piece of volcano artwork. First of all we created a volcano scene using pastels. Then we used a splatter paint technique to create the lava of the volcano.

We think that the results are amazing and we’re very proud of our new display board!
